Thank you for choosing Ei8ht Rooms.
We do have rooms available on the dates you require but not all the rooms
we have available are Twin Rooms. Will it be alright with you, if some of
your guests stay in Double Rooms? Do please let us know.
Basically, Ei8ht Rooms is made up of 2 guesthouses just across from each
other.
Each guesthouse has only 8 rooms.
As we are not a big guesthouse, we do not serve meals but there are many
eating places nearby and our staff can get food in for you, if required.
Our guesthouse is only a short 5mins walk from Pub Street and the Old
Market area.
Near the guesthouse you can find everything from supermarkets, food stalls,
ATMs, money changers, cafes, bars, shopping, etc.
We are centrally located and also just a short 15mins away by tuk tuk to
the temples of Angkor.
All our rooms come complete with air-con, cable tv (60 channels), dvd
player, a self stocking mini-bar, in-room safe and an attached bathroom
with hot water.
Bicycles can be rented nearby for about $2 a day, while a full day tuk tuk
booking will cost $12 (2 persons max).
As for Minivans, they can cost anything from $25 to $40 for a full day.
It's best that this is done upon your arrival, as there is many options to
chose from.
Any tuk tuk ride around the town area, should not cost more than $1.
Do please note that, there are entry chargers into the temples of Angkor.
A one day entry(per person) will cost $20, a 3 day entry - $40 and a 7 day
entry - $60.
As for Angkor entry tickets, you will need to provide them (at the
checkpoint) with 2 passport photos. If you do not have them, you can have
your photos taken there, for a small fee.
We provide free airport or bus station pick-up and we do have free internet
access in our lobby.
We can also assist you with any onward travel bookings within Cambodia,
Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City.
If you need any futher information about our guesthouse or about Siem Reap,

Hi Sharon,
Thanks for your flight details.
Do please let us know how many nights your friends will be staying, as we
have many request for bookings on the dates you require.
If we book the other rooms for one night only, your friends will not be
able to extend their stay with us.
To avoid any misunderstandings, could you please confirm the number of
nights, each room will be for.
Good to hear from you my dear. Yes my friends and I totally 10 people are going to Cambodia by the end of Sept and very likely we will spend 4 days in Siem Riep. I am curious to know how long time you've spent there? Any must-see places or foods that you'd like to recommend?
Actually I am working on our room reservations and have already got confirmed with Ei8ht Rooms for the first night. Coz my friends heard that Red Lodge seems quite good too and they would tend to alter on the second night to Red Lodge if they've got rooms available. I personally don't really like moving too often. Have you heard of it or ever happened to drop by? Heng Hung said that you highly recommended Ei8ht Rooms, is it?
Please .....if you have time please do share your experiences, what makes you so LOVE the place :)
I am a friend of Heng Hung who told me that you and a bunch of other people will be heading off to Siem Riep sometime in Sept.
I had just returned from a trip up there myself and i LOVED it!
Do you have anything in mind? The kind of accomodation/ duration of stay/ budget?
I will be happy to give you some information of this lovely place based on my own experience.
Sorry for the very delayed reply but i am in the middle of a crazy budgeting period right now. Is it ok if i follow up before next monday? When is your trip?
BTW, Ei8ght rooms was recommended to me by my friend and i have personally gone over to take a look. It is a budget hotel but the beauty of it is.. it is VERY clean and in a good located.. so it's really good value.
But don't expect any frills.. it is a very basic place (for US$ 16/ night, cannot expect too much , ya? ;)

We will do our very best for you but please note that we are a pretty small
guesthouse with only 8 rooms.
This is also the reason why we do not serve meals.
If you check online, no other guesthouse in Siem Reap can offer you such
good rates which includes in-room safe, cable tv, dvd player, mini bar, etc
and in such a central location too.
We do not make much from our rooms but we do hope you will have a great
time with us.
No worries, we will hold the rooms for you and your friends but please
inform us upon your arrival, if they would like to stay on or not.
This will be a great help to us, as we will need to fill the rooms, if they
are not required.
Have a good day and if you need any further assistance, do please let us
know.
Kind regards,

Hi Jason & Chetra,
Thanks for the reply. I have discussed with my friends and I personally
recommend your guest house though, it will be more persuasive if you could
manage to offer daily breakfast and bicycle usage (10 pax) on complimentary
basis for us, as you know, we will definitely recommend your hospitality to
other friends of ours back home.
Since we will be staying in Siem Reap with 5 rooms for at least 4 nights

for you to work out. Please feel free to let me know what you can do. I
appreciate that.

Same email has been sent to Red Lodge as well. Still waiting for reply.
Hi Jason & Chetra,
We are currently having 12 people in total arriving Siem Reap on Sept 29, probably will be more joining in by the time. Just wondering what's the rental for a mini bus of 12+ people, let's say from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, and the rental from Siem Reap to Angkor Wat exterior (i.e. Beng Mealea). Please advise, thanks.
First and foremost, i have attached the map of:
Map 1. The city Centre where all the pubs/ hotels are
Map 2. The Angkor Archaelological Park (sorry this one was not that well scanned)
A) Accomodation
You mentioned that some of the guest rooms are going at about US$ 8 / night...and that is true! some of the rooms there are really cheap!
However, it all depends what you want out of this vacation. If you are going to spend 90% of the time outside.. only to stumble into your rooms after a lot of alcohol and probably will not notice the condition of the room, then why not the US$ 8 rooms?
But for my friend and i, we knew that after the tour around the temples (which had to end by 5.30pm when they close up the angkor park), we wanted to relax and take a dip by a pool. So i stayed in this place called Mekong Angkor Palace which was located at #021 St. Sivatha Road and had a nice pool ;O) The rooms were going at US$ 35 - US$ 45 / nite with aircon and about US$ 20 without aircon. We stayed in the aircon room for 2 nights.
But on our 3rd night , we decided to down-grade to a US$ 15 / nite guest-house just about 4 metres away. For the life of me, i cannot remember the name of this guest house.. think it was Dana/ Dara guest house or something like that. It is located along Sivatha Blvd. Note that when we were checking into this place, the owner told us the rooms were going at about US$ 10/ night... until we found out that air-con = additional US$3 and hot water for shower = additional US$ 2.
So i suspect this place you said that is charging US$ 8 is absolutely no-frills.
Both of the places i stay in were just about 8 mins walk from Bar/ Pub street (please see map 1.. the bottom area that has been boxed.. with many restaurants/ bars/ massage parlours . This area is called Bar/ Pub Street).. so it was easy for my friend and i to stumble our way back after 3 cocktails ;O)
FYI Ei8ht Rooms is also a walking distance from Pub Street. I highly recommend that your friends and you stay around this Pub/Bar street area as it is very happening!
September is not a peak period for tourists so what i would suggest is for all of you to ask a tuk-tuk driver to send you to a few guest houses... see them for yourselves and book on the spot. No need for reservations. That was what my friend and i did too.
B) Transportation
i) Around Town:
If you are living near the pub street area.. you can go to the night markets / bars /restaurants by foot. If you wish to venture further away, just need to hop onto a tuk-tuk. They are EVERYWHERE!!
ii) To the Temples
Most people would take a tuk-tuk but you can also rent motorbikes and bicycles. When my friend and i were there, we wanted to rent a bicycle but it was always drizzling so we decided to take the tuk-tuk instead. Do bring along an umbrella/ rain coat as i think it is still the drizzling season. But it's really nice as it brings the temperature down and you can walk around the temples without feeling tired.
If you wish to take the tuk tuk, my advise to you is, no need to book a tuk-tuk for all the days you are there (my fren and i did this.. i.e. we booked a tuk-tuk for 3 days... where he picks us up from our hotel every morning and waits for us as we toured the temples... he charged us US$ 10 / day).
The tuk- tuks are EVERYWHERE so to book a tuk-tuk for your entire trip is not necessary. Flagging one down everytime you need one is cheaper.
C) Food
Cambodia food resembles Thai food and it's yummy! There is plenty to eat around the pub/ bar street area so take you time to pick and choose!
There is also food stalls where the temples are so not to worry.. however, if do charge a little more than what you can find in the streets. But it is so much more convenient to eat there then to pack food in!
D) Currency
Everything is in US dollars.. and everyone accepts them... so in my opinion.. it is not necessary to change to Riels.,. because you don't want to be stuck with unspent Riels after the trip.
E) Inside the Temple Area
i am not sure what time you will reach Siem riep... but they stop allowing people to enter the temple area after 5pm.
Not sure how long you will be there as well but for my friend and i, we purchased a 3-day pass which costs US$ 40 / adult. If i am not mistaken, a 1-day pass is like US$ 20 / adult.. and who goes to Angkor for 1 day??
It is definitely recommended to read about the temples before you enter them so that you can appreciate the artifacts better.. and know the significants of the different temples. But after you have viewed the 10th temple and are going on to the 11th one.. you probably will start to miss its beauty..
1 thing i did not do and think i really should have done is to get onto the hot-air balloon where you can get a Bird's Eye View of all the temples. I am sure it is very beautiful!
F) Other things you may wish to take note of when you are inside the temple area :
The toilets are hard to find and usually far away so try not to drink too much water!
There will be a lot of Cambodian kids trying to sell you things/ ask you for some gift or money... and actually, they are VERY happy to receive ANYTHING from you. I did not always give them money.. and i realise they are very happy to receive things like sweets and even pens / pencils!!
So really, i would advise you to bring along some of these "gifts" for the Cambodian Kids ;O)
I hope my tips were useful.. do not hesitate to ask me more questions if you have any. I am sure you will enjoy this trip. I certainly did :O)

And if you need the rooms with breakfast cost $ 20 per night for one room, the rooms are with aircondition bathroom inside bathtub hot and cold water , cable T.V and Fridge ,
For the price of minibus for visiting the temple one cost $ 35 around the Angkor wat area like small tour one day cost $ 35 and big Tour one day cost $ 35 , if you go to Banteay Srei temple you have to pay $ 20 more because this temple is out side the Angkorwat area and it is very far also , for minibus tour to Beng Mealea temple cost $ 70
because this temple is very far from SiemReap province and on the way to the BengMealea temple they have check point to stope all the Taxi that bring the tourists to visit the temple and then they charge one way $ 5 from the minibus driver .
and for the pick up from airport to the hotel cost $ 7 ,if you are only 2 people or 4 people I free for you but have 12 people , I have to rent a minibus from the bus copany .
I think if you want to go to PhnomPenh you don't have to rent aminibus because it is more expensive than you buy the bus Tickits ,
You just buy the bus ticket one person $ 5 ,
they have many kind of bus copany , I also have the bus tickit in my Hotel .
so if you want to book the room please reply to me soon .
because now is high season !
Here is my phone Number : ( 855 ) 12 70 74 99 .
Best Regards Mr. Ross !!
Thanks !!

Dear friend,
We, a group of 12 people in total are arriving Siem Reap on Sept 29,
probably will be more joining in by the time. Would you please advise your
GH location and availability for 6 twin bedded rooms on Sept 29 for 3
nights? Your best possible rate with breakfast and airport pickup on
complimentary basis would be highly appreciated as we shall surely recommend
your guest house widely to our friends.
Meanwhile, please let me know the rental for a mini bus of 12+ people, let's
say from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, and the rental from Siem Reap to Angkor
Wat exterior (i.e. Beng Mealea). Please advise, thanks.
We have reserved a total of 6 rooms for you. 3 Twin Rooms and 3 Double, one
of which will be at the new
guesthouse.
All room prices are at $15 per night.
Do please note that unlike other guesthouses, we do not charge any
additional fee or tax.
We also provide free internet access in our lobby area.
Do please provide us with all your travel details?
All we require are your flight numbers and arrival time.
If any of you are coming by bus, we will need the bus company's name and
arrival time.
Do not worry, we will have everything ready for you when you arrive.
Do please let us know, if you will need anything else.
Thanks & regards,
Jason & Chetra

Hi Jason & Chetra,
Thanks for the info. Please confirm how many rooms are with twin beds or
one king bed? What's the exact room rate for the one at your extension.
Please reconfirm the room rate is net rate including all service charges.
Meanwhile, please note that there're 2 of us who will be arriving in the
afternoon of Sept 29 which will be earlier than the rest of us. Please let
them check in your extension guesthouse.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,

Dear Sharon,
Glad you found the toilet tip useful! Alternatively, you could carry some plastic bags around ;O)
Oh! i thought you were going fly into Siem Riep and back home directly from there. In that case, attached is yet another map.. this time, of Phnom Penh, which is yet another awesome place.
Actually if you ask me, taking a bus to PP is A LOT more pleasant than taking the boat though i know most people will find the boat-ride more thrilling. Just remember to bring some food up on the boat and again, try not to drink too much as the toilet is in a very sad state. If you intend to take a bus from Siem Riep to PP instead (which is half the price of the boat), take the one from Mekong Express. Extremely clean with toilet in the bus... and they serve sandwiches as well. You can find the Mekong Express office on #14A St Siwatha, Phum Mondul 1.
I was in PP for 2 nights where on the first nite, i stay near the Tonle Sap River..... well.. let's just say it is VERY touristy there. On the 2nd nite, we moved downwards.. in between the Central Market and the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum into this place called Scandinavia Hotel. It is located on 4 Street 282. If you look at the map, it is on the bottom right quadrant of the map.. near the Independent Monument. This area was much nice (to me, at least).
This hotel was really nice..but it was not that cheap.. about US$ 35 per night but i liked it very much. The one along the river (many of them!) was charging only US$ 15 / nite but it was not that nice.
I am not sure how long you intend to stay in PP but if you only have 1 day, then go for the Toul Sleng Genocide museum which is a very depressing place... but a must go. This museum opens from 8am - 5pm but closes at lunch time! (about 12 - 1 pm). If you have more time... do visit the Russian Market and the Central Market. They sell almost everything there! But the markets also closes around 6pm. Another place i never made it is The Killing Fields which is 15km away from the city ... so u will need an extra day to see this.
I did not make it to the beaches of Cambodia as well because i heard it is about 4-6 hrs by bus .. so it was not possible for me. I believe you are referring to the beaches in Sihanoukville.
I guess you will be taking a bus from PP to Saigon?? how long would you be staying in Vietnam? 7th of Oct is a Sunday and i am always out from 2pm till late every sunday ( i join a running group called the Hashers where we run in the country side every sunday). If you will be staying for a few days, then we should definitely meet! And yes, i love love love Vietnamese food too. Let me know where you plan to stay.. or if you need help in this area as well, just let me know! i will reply before u leave!
;O)

Dear Shufang,
Awesome! Million thanks for your helpful tips and the maps!!! I will definitely bear in mind with your notes, oooops, especially the toilet part, well, I drink a lot of water everyday you know. Hmm..I think I'll have to drink less there.
Here's our flights and tentative plan. We are heading off to Siem Reap on Sept 29, planning to linger there for 3-4 days to see the temples and then take boat trip to Phnom Penh very likely. Have you been to the beach of Cambodia? Heard that the beach is beautiful.. Our trip will end by departing from Vietnam on Oct 7. I am so looking forward to the Vietnamese foods there. *slurp*
Thank you for your quick reply.
Do please inform your friends that we are on the same road, as the Artisan
dÁngkor and if they need directions to locate us, do please call our

Dear Sharon,
Oh! so its just a touch-and-go trip to Saigon! Thats a pity indeed!
but i can meet you and ur frens in the afternoon / evening 6th of Oct.. if you are keen...pub-hopping, anyone?
There is actually no need to make any room reservations as there are plenty of low-cost hotels over here. Just head straight to Pham Ngu Lao area and you can see rows and rows of budget hotels. They also call this place the Backpackers area and it is located in District 1 which is exactly where most things happen. You should not need to spend more than US$ 20 / nite for a decent room . some even charge as low as US$ 12.
If you have time, head to the War Museum which is only about 15 mins by taxi from Pham Ngu Lao area.. i would highly recommend that you take the Xe-Oms (motorcycle taxis) to your destinations.. just for the thrill of it.
Stationeries are great! they kids would love them, for sure.
Have a safe and good trip! Do not hesitate to call me anytime if you need to .
